Resene Summit Roof is a unique waterborne satin for ease of application and maximum life over well weathered properly prepared metal surfaces and cementitious surfaces. Resene Summit Roof is also available in a Resene Cool Colour variant. NB. Resene Cool Colours need to be clearly identified in both the product specification and colour schedule to ensure correct tinting is applied.
Resene Summit Roof has been certified by Environmental Choice NZ as well as independently reviewed by EnviroSpec for its points contribution potential in Green Star NZ and Homestar building rating systems. Unwanted paint and paint containers can be returned to the Resene PaintWise paint and paint packaging recovery programme. Returns are donated to community groups, sent to solvent recovery, packaging is recycled and other paint goes into covering graffiti and research on alternative uses. Cool colours reflect more heat than standard colours, reducing stress on the paint, substrate and building, reducing heat transference inside and potentially helping reduce the need for air conditioning, all other design features of the building being equal. Additional Benefits include:
• Good corrosion resistance over metals.
• Direct to substrate on some surfaces.
• Excellent adhesion to Resene primers.
• Acid and alkali resistant - inhibits mould growth.
Resene started its quest towards more sustainable practices in the 1950s when it introduced waterborne paint. In 1996 Resene became the first New Zealand paint company to offer an extensive range of Environmental Choice approved products, Resene has since continued innovating in this space. In 2007 Resene Zylone Sheen VOC Free was introduced, and more recently Non VOC tinters have been introduced. The Cool Colours range provides exterior paints formulated to reflect solar radiation that would normally be absorbed. This is claimed to reduce substrate stress, improve paint longevity, and can help reduce heat absorption through building fabric which in turn could mean less air conditioning requirements. Resene also operates the PaintWise recycling programme, which includes a world-first" mobile paint collection and recovery
Typical uses:
Direct to:
• Properly prepared cementitious surfaces
• Properly prepared metals (aluminium, galvanised iron, mild steel or zincalume)
• Well weathered COLORBOND or COLORSTEEL
Application:
Resene Summit Roof may be applied by brush, speed brush, synthetic fibre roller or spray.
Limitations:
1. Do not apply at temperatures below 10°C or when it is liable to drop below 10°C during the drying period.
2. New unweathered COLORSTEEL or COLORBOND must either be lightly sanded, or allowed to undergo direct weathering for a minimum period of one month before application of Resene Summit Roof.
3. Disconnect roof downpipes until after the first shower of rain in order to flush away surplus non-toxic wetting agents before the surface is used for the collection of drinking water.
4. Light colours are recommended for UPVC surfaces as dark shades will cause warping.
5. Not suitable for roof areas where water ponding occurs.
Resene products are guaranteed to provide film integrity and adhesion for the expected life of the paint system. Maintenance: Avoid cleaning the paint finish until at least four weeks after application time to ensure it has had sufficient time to fully develop its properties. Keep any cleaning to a minimum to avoid damaging the paint film. Follow the care and cleaning instructions in the Resene Caring for your paint finish brochure.
