Manufacturer Information - A1 Rubber

A1 Rubber’s recycling initiative forms part of their business commitment to reduce reuse and recycle rubber products. Their Brisbane based head office and manufacturing facility uses stripped rubber from old tyres to form new Australian made rubber flooring products, and claims to convert over 7500 tonnes of recycled tyre rubber into various innovative flooring products per annum.

A1 Rubber operates as a wholesale manufacturer and through their experienced distributor network offer expert advice on the right type of rubber flooring for each application, including adhesives, finishing requirements and all on site installation technicalities.

The conception of a rubber business began for John Randel in 1993 when he was running a wire works business, and expanded it to include manufacturing recycled rubber basket liners. When he began working with recycled rubber, he realised the extensive potential for products made out of recycled rubber, and soon ventured into manufacturing floor tiles and matting out of rubber. By 1997, the rubber business was rapidly growing and had enough demand and the means to partner up to develop their own tyre recycling facility. Up until 2005, A1 Rubber operated temporarily out of a shed in the bush at Mt Cotton, until an opportunity arose to buy land at Yatala and build a new factory. The new factory allowed for expansion of products and new machinery. By 2015 demand for A1 Rubber’s products had pushed the company to its limits in both warehousing and manufacturing capacities. Fortunately, the neighboring buildings became available which allowed A1 Rubber to move its warehousing and expand its manufacturing. Now occupying over 7000m2 of manufacturing space, the extra room allowed for new, innovative machinery to meet the increasing demand, in both commercial and retail sectors.
