Slip-Resistant Hygiene floors for commercial kitchens and food processing environments.
Prepare the existing floor by mechanical diamond grinding with vacuum attachment. Use the number of cuts necessary to provide an adequate key. Care shall be taken not to scour or gouge the existing floor surface. Thoroughly vacuum with an industrial grade machine to remove all dust from the grinding process.
Where required install coving to floor & wall junctions. A typical cove height is 150mm with a nominal 50mm radius. Coving height can be reduced to 50mm with a 10-20mm radius or increased in height if required. It is recommended that coves are installed before the floor is laid using an epoxy resin that complies with the NZGBC low VOC requirements.
Prime newly prepared surfaces with DEGADUR® 112 hardener using a rubber blade squeegee and a brush. Broadcast the freshly laid primer immediately with fire-dried quartz sand.
Mix the DEGADUR® 420 basecoat formula based on 2.0Kg resin per m2 The material should be dispersed using a trowel, gauge rake or notched squeegee.
Broadcast the DEGADUR® quartz, gradually building coverage into the basecoat to avoid creating “waves” in the resin.
Remove all loose C100 quartz by first sweeping the excess, then vacuuming the remainder. Once clean apply the 1st coat of DEGADUR®526 by rubber bladed squeegee, and back rolling with a high quality 10mm pile, lint free roller to distribute the product evenly.
Allow a minimum of 1 hour drying before applying the 2nd coat of sealer.
Maintenance
Dilute and apply suitable cleaning agent, following the manufacturer's instructions, using a synthetic mop (Degafloor recommends the use of Bio-Zyme Cleaner, or Bio-Zyme Industrial Degreaser for heavier soiling).
Scrub with a stiff brush (deck scrubbing method) then rinse with clean, hot water and mop away any excess, OR Scrub with a rotary scrubber fitted with a non-abrasive, nylon scrub brush.
Vacuum or squeegee to dry (as required).
Note: Scuff marks should be removed with a mild abrasive cleaner (mixed into a fine watery paste). Rubber marks should be removed with a specialist rubber removing agent such as Bio-Zyme Cleaner.
