Application and Purpose

Suitable for roofing, cladding, and rainwater goods. AlumiGard is ideal for applications where there is high risk of deterioration from corrosive elements in the environment.

Installation and Maintenance

Installation: Do not use AlumiGard for a pitch of less than 3 degrees (8 degrees for corrugated profiles) to avoid ponding and premature degradation of the coating system.

Care must be taken when installing AlumiGard in combination with or in close proximity to these materials:

  • Steel—Please isolate the two materials from each other with an inert membrane.
  • Cement—Take care no wet cement is splashed on the AlumiGard product, and in the case that it is, it is washed off immediately to avoid corrosion of the AlumiGard product.
  • Concrete or Plaster—Protect the AlumiGard product with an inert membrane against these materials to avoid discolouration.
  • Wood—In mild environments, take care to seal points of contact between the wood and AlumiGard with an inert membrane. In severe and very severe environments, the two surfaces must be fully isolated by a gasket or rubber, neoprene or similar material.
  • Copper and Brass—Avoid contact with, and water runoff from, copper and brass onto AlumiGard products as they will cause excessive corrosion.

Maintenance: The service life is extended by regular washing. A mechanical wash every six months is recommended, more often if contaminants build up. At these times inspect for damage and failing fasteners, and repair these.

Aluminium or 304 stainless steel screws are recommended for use with AlumiGard.
