Technical and Environmental Benefits

The glass you choose makes a significant difference to the comfort of a house and can influence the size of it’s energy bills. That’s why it pays to choose Low E glass for your Double Glazed windows.

Low E glass can help reduce heat loss in winter by reflecting the heat back into your home or building (it must be shaded from Summer sun to prevent excessing heat gain during the hotter months)

LowE Xcel can help deliver R-values between up to 20% better than standard low e glazing thanks to the automatic inclusion of argon gas and a thermal spacer.

This will be the preferred type of glass unit suitable for projects aiming for 6-7 star Homestar ratings (under Homestar V4.1) and 4-5 Star Green Star NZ ratings, especially when situated inside a thermally broken widow frame.

EPDs are available upon request. The relevant chain of EPD data will depend in the combination of glass and framing used on a project. email glass@metroglass.co.nz
