Resene Multishield+ is a tough 100% acrylic glaze for use on masonry and brick surfaces as a waterproofer and glaze. It enhances the colour and natural beauty of masonry, brick and stone and increases the durability of high build acrylic specialist coatings. Also provides an exceptionally tough, scrubbable film for the protection of wallpaper.
Resene Multishield+ has been certified by Environmental Choice NZ as well as independently reviewed by EnviroSpec for its points contribution potential in Green Star NZ and Homestar building rating systems. Unwanted paint and paint containers can be returned to the Resene PaintWise paint and paint packaging recovery programme. Returns are donated to community groups, sent to solvent recovery, packaging is recycled and other paint goes into covering graffiti and research on alternative uses. Additional benefits include:
• Excellent intercoat and substrate adhesion.
• Non-yellowing.
• Excellent protection of brick, stone and fibre cement.
• Resistant to chipping and peeling.
• Resistant to oil and fat splashes.
• Resistant to alkaline cleansers.
Resene started its quest towards more sustainable practices in the 1950s when it introduced waterborne paint. In 1996 Resene became the first New Zealand paint company to offer an extensive range of Environmental Choice approved products, Resene has since continued innovating in this space. In 2007 Resene Zylone Sheen VOC Free was introduced, and more recently Non VOC tinters have been introduced. The Cool Colours range provides exterior paints formulated to reflect solar radiation that would normally be absorbed. This is claimed to reduce substrate stress, improve paint longevity, and can help reduce heat absorption through building fabric which in turn could mean less air conditioning requirements. Resene also operates the PaintWise recycling programme, which includes a world-first" mobile paint collection and recovery
Typical Uses: Brickwork/artificial brickwork, fibre cement, high build acrylics, masonry surfaces, slate, stonework/artificial stonework, wallpaper.
Application:
Apply by brush, speed brush or spray. Roller application is not generally recommended due to the tendency to foam, resulting in a milky dry film.
1. Apply up to three coats of Resene Multishield+ allowing at least two hours between coats.
2. On very porous substrates, the first coat can be thinned up to 10% with water. When using Resene Multishield+ satin or flat on a porous or unsealed surface, use Resene Multishield+ gloss as the first coat.
Limitations:
• Do not apply at temperatures below 10°C or when it is liable to drop below 10°C during the drying period.
• Where waterproofing problems are encountered, a pigmented high build system, such as Resene X-200 should be used.
• When sanding is required use fine wet and dry sandpaper with water.
• Not recommended for exterior tile or decorative aggregate flooring where water ponding may occur.
• Not recommended for use on exterior timber or large areas of interior timber.
• Will not penetrate or reinforce weak surfaces.
Resene products are guaranteed to provide film integrity and adhesion for the expected life of the paint system. Maintenance: Avoid cleaning the paint finish until at least four weeks after application time to ensure it has had sufficient time to fully develop its properties. Keep any cleaning to a minimum to avoid damaging the paint film. Follow the care and cleaning instructions in the Resene Caring for your paint finish brochure.
