Product Description

Bestwood offers an extensive range of decorative panels for use in interior cabinetry, wall panelling, furniture and more. This includes a great selection of natural wood and engineered oak veneer panels along with highly durable melamine panels - all available with Bestwood Edging.

The Bestwood Melamine and Veneer options, on MDF or particleboard substrate are Environmental Choice NZ certified. (Refer to ECNZ website for exact certified product range and substrate thicknesses https://environmentalchoice.org.nz)  

Substrate and panels sizes - Bestwood offers a range of panel sizes, and substrate options in varying thicknesses. Refer to the website and Bestwood Melamine Panel Chart. Please note, 1800 wide is only available in selected melamine colours.

Colours - An extensive range of Melamine décor designs and veneer species are available. Refer to the Bestwood website https://www.bestwood.co.nz/

Finish - For Bestwood Melamine, a large range of individual surface finishes gives you the freedom to create your own captivating design aesthetic. Bestwood Melamine offers several surface finish options to compliment your surface colour choice:

  • Embossed - A lightly textured, orange-peel-like surface appearance
  • Velvet - A lightly textured, delicate eggshell surface appearance
  • Woodgrain – A lightly textured woodgrain appearance.
  • Timberland – a deeply textured timber grain designed to enhance both woodgrain decors and add a woodgrain effect to solid colour melamine.
  • Wilderness - Designed to enhance natural characteristics
  • Gloss Plus (only available in Arctic White and Arctic Ice) - A smooth high gloss finish.

 Edging is available for all melamine colours in 1mm or 2mm.  Laser options are available for a selected range of colours.   

 

Technical and Environmental Benefits

  • Bestwood can be used to claim points in Green Star NZ and Homestar projects. (refer to Green Building Info tab)
  • Bestwood Melamine and Veneer range have been awarded the Environmental Choice New Zealand (ECNZ) licence. They further comply with the low formaldehyde emission level E1 defined in AS/NZS 1859 and satisfy the requirements of Green Star NZ and Homestar.
  • The standard MDF substrate used by Bestwood is made by Nelson Pine using Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) controlled wood fibre and is available in an EO low-formaldehyde option.
  • The particleboard substrates are made by a NZ Panels Group sister company, Kopine, from waste wood chips sourced from local NZ forests.

Installation and Maintenance

Direct sunlight should be avoided on all veneer surfaces as fading, bleaching, colour changes and damage to the surface coating may occur. As with any natural timber product, dyed products such as fabrics, colour will change over time when exposed to visible UV light. Consideration should be given to protective UV films or glazing and blinds in high sunlight situations.
